My Story
My name is Emma Langford. God has given me a passion for studying His word, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, and a desire to encourage and strengthen the faith of others. I recently graduated from college with a degree in English literature, and I am currently studying at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to earn my master's degree in Biblical Counseling.

I grew up in church with a Christian family, but it was not until I graduated high school in 2019 that I grew a deep interest in studying theology and began to grapple with how I could live out the gospel and spread the truth of the risen King who offers full and free forgiveness.
When I am not studying or working, I love reading (theology or classic literature are some of my favorites), drinking hot tea, going on walks or runs through a park, jamming to music, drawing, trying something new, and going on adventures with my best friend and husband, Denver.

My Beliefs
I believe that whoever believes in God, believes that Jesus is God, and repents from their sins to live for Jesus rather than themselves, will be forgiven by God on the day of judgement and will receive eternal life so that they will be in heaven after death (Romans 6:4, Romans 10:9, John 3:16, John 14:2-3). Salvation is by grace alone, and there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation that Christ has not already done for us out of His great love for us, so all we need to do is trust Him and live for Him, and there is no other way to receive eternal life except by faith in the true Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, John 19:28-30, Acts 4:12). However, all who do not repent and believe in Jesus Christ will suffer the wrath of God in Hell for eternity because everyone has sin (disobeying God), which has wages of death and separates us from the holy God (Mark 9:43, Mark 16:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 8:24, Revelation 20:15, Revelation 21:27, Revelation 21:8, Matthew 25:46, Matthew 10:28).
I believe in the trinity. The bible teaches that there are three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each person is fully God, yet there is only one God, one Being (1 Corinthians 8:6, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Colossians 2:9, John 10:30, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:1-2).

I believe that God created all things (Colossians 1:16, Genesis 1:1, John 1:1-3), that He is sovereign over all things (Job 42:2, Proverbs 19:21, Acts 2:23), that He knows all things (Psalm 147:5, 1 John 3:20, Job 28:24), and that His presence is everywhere (Jeremiah 23:24, Isaiah 43:2, Matthew 28:19-20).

I believe that the entirety of scripture, the Holy Bible, is inerrant and preserved by God, and that God spoke through those who wrote it so that His people would know His word. The scripture is not subject to change from culture and opinion, and it does not expire with the rest of history, but it speaks to the present, past, and future (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 4:4, Isaiah 40:8). Nothing should be added to or taken away from scripture - not even by those who declare themselves as prophets after the canon has been assembled (Revelations 22:18-19. Proverbs 30:5-6, Galatians 1:6-9).

The Purpose of This Blog
I created this blog to help others grow in a deeper and richer understanding of God and how we can apply His word to our daily lives (with the hopes that my own faith will be strengthened in the process). The content in this blog will foundationally be built on answering questions such as "How can I become a Christian?" "Who is Jesus?" and "What is the gospel?". I love studying apologetics, systematic theology, the Puritans, and the Word itself, so this blog will be colored by all of these (primarily and foundationally by the bible, obviously). The title of this blog was taken from one of my favorite Psalms, which says "The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance" (Psalm 16:5-6 ESV, emphasis added). The children of God are no longer the people of Israel wandering through the desert to find the home God set aside for us. We have received the beautiful inheritance of salvation, a future in heaven with God. Thanks be to His indescribable gift of Christ, who came down and died for us so that we can one day be with Him in heaven, where sin will be no more, and every tear from the trials we have faced will be wiped from our eyes by God Himself (Revelation 21:4).
